D1 Diagnosis of lane and signs of worldview change

Topic

The diagnosis of worldview stages and signals of change measures which source of authority is predominantly invoked when a decision is challenged: whether that source is tradition and the sacred, a leader's charisma, or secular rational-legal rules. As long as the invoked source of authority remains the same, the diagnosis registers no signal of change, even if various decisions are challenged successively within the same legitimacy stage.

The diagnosis signals a change only when the invoked source of authority shifts in a sustained and widespread manner toward another source; it is not enough for someone to invoke a source other than the usual one regarding a specific decision—that shift must be sustained and generalized, and not reversed within a generation, for the diagnosis to register it as a valid signal.

This sustained and widespread shift—without reversal within a generation—is the very condition previously identified as the trigger for a worldview transition. Consequently, the diagnosis serves as a direct measure of that transition: tracking which source of authority dominates when a decision is challenged allows one to recognize that the worldview track has shifted to a new stage, rather than waiting to confirm this after the transition has already occurred. Timely recognition is particularly important because the worldview track pulls culture and ideology along with it, and leaves echoes in power dynamics and conflict, the moment that track shifts to a new stage.
