E2 Tradability Profile
Topic
The default tradability profile for Production is high: a good produced within this lane is typically manufactured in one location and consumed in another, and it is this separation between the place of production and the place of consumption that enables the export of produced goods to the global scale via trade, as previously described.
Within Production, however, there is an exception to this default tradability profile: site-bound goods—such as construction—are *de facto* non-tradable, despite belonging to the same Production lane as capital goods or tangible consumer goods. A building cannot be produced in one location and consumed in another in the same way a machine or a tangible consumer good can; consequently, the high tradability profile that generally characterizes Production does not apply to site-bound goods.
This distinction mirrors the one established by the cross-cutting "Geographic Scope and Tradability" modifier for each lane: each lane carries its own default setting in this regard, which may vary further depending on the specific business line within the lane. For Production, that default is high—except for site-bound goods, whose inherently low tradability profile keeps them from reaching the global scale, even though other goods produced within the same lane do so.
