M1 Stable permanence in the current section

Topic

Stable persistence within the prevailing stage is the default mode of the authority regime—the trajectory that defines the system as long as it remains in that same stage; while a society stays in the same stage of state formation, there is no inherent oscillation within that mode—that is, no internal cycle causing it to alternate between distinct states, as occurs in other modes. The authority regime simply remains in the prevailing stage, without shifting due to its own internal dynamics.

Stable persistence in the prevailing stage is interrupted only when the trigger for an authority regime transition is activated; as long as that trigger—the sustained collapse of the state’s fiscal and coercive capacity, rather than an isolated event—remains inactive, the authority regime continues in that state of stable persistence, even if the effective impersonality of succession and fiscal extraction rules fluctuates within normal ranges. Only through an authority regime transition does this stable persistence in the prevailing stage come to an end, allowing the society to move from one stage of state formation to another.
